In December, we attended a seminar on a travel package that allowed buyer to access discounted travel and hotel/resort accommodations. Several examples of 'actual' savings were presented. Of key interest was a main Viking cruise. Being familiar with Viking the cost savings shown was quite impressive (old saying if it seems to good to be true, it probably is )- 1st red flag though we proceeded. Slide for the "most popular cruise" was listed as less than $5k per couple with air faire and balcony .
And then the madness began.
When we finally got access to the website 7 business days later (note the contract cancellation period is 5 business days - 2nd red flag), timing of which is not in compliance with contractual law. After much research we could not come any where close to the quoted price,
Called into Boardwalk agents, who confirmed that even with the after purchase rebate the cost was actually double what was quoted. No one could explain why.
Attempted to escalate through the agents and all numbers shown on contract only to have no one return our calls. Literally ghosted by all parties. Have provided the company with a notice of default. Again to no avail.
Well hidden corporate entity (although not impossible). Appears they even went so far as to build a fake rating site as it only pulls up Boardwalk. Clever.
Also, not registered as seller of travel in California. Clear attempt to skirt the law. Clear bait and switch.
Have notified State Attorney General, DOJ, BBB, FTC, DOT. Hoping this will serve as a warning to others. Buyer beware.
